Sam Natarajan (CFA, FRM) is the Founder and CEO of Harvest Technology Corporation and has over 22 years of experience in the financial services industry, as a derivatives trader and as a software development professional. After many successful years on Wall Street, Sam founded Harvest Technology to meet the overwhelming demand for IT professionals who understand the business.
Sam brings a unique set of skills as a strategic problem solver and is a subject matter expert in financial services, notably portfolio management, risk management, fixed-income, convertible bonds, equities, credit derivatives, prime brokerage, custody, research, private client wealth management, and many other products/services. Sam’s software experience includes web technologies, data modeling, C++, C, Sybase, OLAP, Excel, Bloomberg, OutlookSoft, and many other products. He is highly sought after by many Wall Street firms for his ability to understand complex business problems.
Prior to starting Harvest Technology in 2000, Sam worked for over 12 years at Merrill Lynch building web applications, trading, and risk management systems. His work as in technology earned him an opportunity to have a "second career" at Merrill Lynch as a derivatives trader in the Fixed Income and Equity divisions.
Prior to Merrill Lynch, Sam worked as a quantitative analyst in the Equity Research department at Drexel Burnham Lambert and earlier in his career, at Data Resources Inc. (DRI, a former division of S&P providing econometric and financial data, models, and services), as a programmer developing analytical software for financial services clients.
Sam holds an MBA in Finance from New York University (Leonard N. Stern School of Business), and an MS in Computer Science from the Stevens Institute of Technology, and a BA in Computer Science from Williams College. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1994.
Sam has also recently earned the certification of Financial Risk Manager - Certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals, November 2004.
Sam is also an OutlookSoft Certified Application Consultant, having completed the rigorous product certification training on the award-winning Everest application. OutlookSoft provides state-of-the art solutions for Business Performance Management (BPM). Harvest Technology is an OutlookSoft Service Partner.
In 2005, Sam was appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Rutgers Business School (NJ). He has taught graduate-level MBA courses in “Options/Derivatives” and “Analysis of Fixed Income Securities.”
In his spare time, Sam offers private instruction in South Indian Classical Music and Tamil (an Indian language), and struggles to keep up with the energy level of his kids.
